A Community Recognition Statement delivered on 8 February, 2024, by the Member for Keira, the Hon. Ryan Park MP.

I am beyond proud to highlight the generosity from the big-hearted people in my electorate of Keira and the broader community of the Illawarra, individuals, local business and ever supportive clubs for their community spirit in providing gifts for children this past Christmas. A record-breaking number of donations were received and donated to SAHSSI, (Supported Accommodation and Homelessness Services Shoalhaven and Illawarra) an organisation that supports vulnerable women and families. This overwhelming kindness ensured that hundreds of children across the region woke up to presents under the Christmas tree. I want to acknowledge the wonderful organisations Woonona Bulli RSL, Wests Illawarra, SAHSSI, Gonglug and the Bungalow Group for their kindness and continuous support. Also, my humble gratitude goes out to all of the hardworking people who assisted with allocating the gifts to ensure children impacted by domestic violence received a gift this Christmas. This generosity and collaborative effort epitomises community spirit and that we can make a difference in the lives of others.
