A Community Recognition Statement delivered on 22 August, 2023, by the Member for Keira, the Hon. Ryan Park MP.

Mr RYAN PARK (Keira)—I am honoured to acknowledge the leadership of students within the Illawarra and the exceptional service of Woonona East Public Schools Vice Captain, Felix Perez MacDonald. To be elected as a leader by your fellow peers is a huge compliment and a true testament to your hard work and determination. A leader leads by example and prioritises attributes of being kind, thoughtful and empathetic, which are all qualities that Felix's teacher and peers use to describe him. As a former schoolteacher, I feel strongly about showcasing the accomplishments of students in all areas. From kicking goals in the classroom to our greatest sportsmen on the field, it is vital that our students feel supported and recognised. As a student who has shown a maturity beyond his years, his interest in mathematics, geography, and his community proves he is not only a noteworthy leader but a great friend and classmate. I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Felix and all school leaders across the Illawarra who have been and will continue to carry out their leadership roles with great pride and wish them all the best for the rest of the school year.
